Fraser Valley Regional Rail Concept Study

Fraser Valley Region, BC

Since 2010, the Fraser Valley is the most rapidly growing region in the province of British Columbia. This growth has been accompanied by a range of impacts, particularly to transportation, with growing congestion, emissions, and climate change affecting mobility options for residents.

As part of a suite of transportation initiatives, the BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure retained the Stewart Group to explore opportunities to enable passenger rail transit in the Valley. By applying a multi-faceted analysis considering growth projections, land use patterns, traffic movement, infrastructure options, transit integration and other components, the Stewart Group developed a pre-feasibility concept plan to identify potential passenger rail opportunities to provide sustainable, cost-effective mobility options.
